Volunteer Forever is a comprehensive online resource that helps volunteers find and fund their volunteer opportunities. The site has a clean and simple interface making it easy to navigate. The ease of use results in a powerful volunteer fundraising tool.
Cruising through their volunteer section, a number of individuals have already had success in receiving contributions to their causes. It looks like the 2013 Haiti Marathon is currently a popular destination on the site (all funds raised go straight to the community to fund educational programs in Haiti and to fund race day costs such as prize money to the top Haitian finishers.)
Truth be told, I hate fundraising. I don’t like asking people for money. Everyone has their causes and their interests as to where they want to direct their disposable income. My favourite thing about the site is that the format allows you post your cause and your goals and people can make their contributions on their own. You don’t have to ask them. You simply put it out there and allow people to make their own decision without any pressure. For me, that is fantastic.
Clearly, fundraising is an essential part to volunteer travel. Travelling is expensive. On top of that, I believe that funds are one of the most valuable gifts that volunteers can provide organizations. Good will will only take an organization so far. The reality is that funds are what will allow the organization to grow or simply continue. This site provides an excellent platform for volunteer fundraising.
The site has only recently been launched, but I’m sure it will quickly become an essential tool for volunteer fundraising.
