Here are a couple of tips in which I think will help you. I love to travel and visit new places. With my experience good and bad I thought I should share some of them. I sat one weekend with a couple of my friends and we are talking about travelling. I came up with the things you should and shouldn’t do when you are in a foreign area. Also this applies to places which you know. So lets get started, here is the list of tips:

  • ·Make sure you know your embassy’s number.
  • ·Find out the location of the embassy. This one and the first ones are important especially if you get problems with legal issues. Embassies come in handy in such occasions.
  • ·Budget appropriately and check for Currency fluctuations. This happened to a friend of mine he thought he had enough money when he left home, when he reached his destination and he changed the money he found out he carried too little. He had to stop his vacation short.
  • ·We recommend you get comprehensive travel insurance. I cant stress how important this is especially if you are going to tropical countries. You are more susceptible to diseases and can fall sick easily.
  • ·Check with your doctor as soon as possible to find out which vaccinations that you might need.
  • ·Make sure you have the correct Visa
  • ·Keep in touch with your family and friends and keep in regular contact with them. It is advisable to be communicating with someone so that they know where you are and how you are doing. Also if you run into problems you can contact them to help you.
  • ·Book a flexible ticket which allows you to leave anytime. In some occasions you might need to leave early or later. When you leave early its because of a problem which you encountered. Sometimes you can be having too much fun or you fall in love with the place and you want to leave later (this has happened to me).
  • ·Keep away from situations that make you uncomfortable. Trust your instincts most of the time they are right. If you feel uncomfortable about where you are, you should leave.
  • ·Keep an eye on your belongings. As tourist you are a good target for thieves and pick pockets. Hence you should take care of your belongings.
  • ·Beware of pickpockets as they are many in especially high tourist areas.
  • ·Try to keep a low profile and try to blend in
  • ·Always keep your mobile phone and valuables like jewelry out of sight.
  • ·Carry your phone card, and loose change for making calls.
  • ·Always try to know where you are going.
  • ·Try always to be in groups especially at night, don’t walk alone
