Volunteer in Nepal for less than £10 a day. food/lodgings included.

Type of Placement- Working in an Orphanage

Description of Duties- Spend your days from the time you get up surrounded by children from the ages of 9 months to teenagers. Helping the house mum get them to be ready for school or cooking, cleaning, helping with homework and generally playing games with them. Everything you would expect to do for a younger brother or sister. But it’s not always hard work and expect to sit in the sun watching the children play or strolling to the park where they love to go. And if you feel real confident try teaching those English or any other subject that you’re good at. The main duty to perform here is to see that the children have a good time under your care as most have suffered in their young lives before coming to the orphanage.

Placement Location- Choose between Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Trussali orphanages. The Kathmandu one being in the centre of the valley with easy access to the entire modern city that Kathmandu has become. Pokhara being beside the Phewa Thal Lake a tourist area of distinct beauty or Trussali one of the best places to start your rafting & trekking from.

Accommodation- This will generally be a room in the orphanage itself where you truly get to experience the life and workings of the orphanage. You may have to share a room but this will be only if you are ok with it.  Standard Nepalese cooking will be provided and you will get to feel part of the family by living close with the children.

Hi, I am Naomi. I am 32 years old and have some experience of working in a care centre for children in Peru. Although I did this 10 years ago, I remember it with affection.
I am interested in volunteering to help in an orphanage in either India or Nepal and was wondering if your project is a long term one as I would not be able to volunteer for another 6 months due to the need to save up money to come. I have some eperience as a care worker and have worked with people with special needs in England. I have recently had a CRB check done for work.
Could you send me more details of the project please and of dates as to when I could come, thankyou for your time- regards, Naomi.
