Sikkim Himalayan Academy – India

Perched on the slopes of the Himalaya in an ancient Buddhist kingdom, the Sikkim Himalayan Academy Academy provides education, encourages personal development and creates a home for some of the poorest children in the region.

Volunteers are always needed. The school relies on volunteers from other countries to supplement the local teaching staff and bring new ideas, different perspectives and enthusiasm to the school. Volunteers come from all over the world to teach classes, take sports and arts activities and most importantly, talk and play with the students who all miss their families. Those with teaching skills or experience working with young people are especially encouraged to volunteer.
