I’m posting this on behalf of Horizon Peru, a non-profit organization based in Trujillo, Peru. We are working to improve the quality of life in the community of La Esperanza by providing vital job skills to its members. We offer services such as free courses in English and computer technology, free dental care for children, and more. Currently we are working to acquire much needed items such as clothes and blankets, as well.
Trujillo is an important city known for its surfing waters and is very popular amongst tourists. It’s a great place to travel to and live in, with a vibrant night life and cool things to visit nearby – like Inca ruins! We offer comfortable, safe and extremely cheap housing ($200 US per month – with discounts for couples and people staying longer than one month), in addition to many other benefits (we have arrangements with Spanish schools, surfing schools, cooking schools, and more – so that you can get discounted lessons in all these things), in exchange for your volunteered time and expertise. No prior teaching or volunteering experience is necessary, and if you don’t speak any Spanish, don’t worry – there are lots of people here to help you! All we ask is that you try your best with what you have to offer, and in turn we’ll do our best to make sure that you have an amazing, life changing experience.
