So I have been doing a bit more research about the idea to travel for a year jumping from one volunteer opportunity to the next.  I have decided to narrow things down a bit more, but again, I’m open to suggestion.  I am willing to go anywhere and do anything providing it is financially viable.  This means I can get there on a realistic budget and am not cris crossing the globe.

I have been surfing the information super highway.  There are more ‘volunteer opportunities’ now than ever.  I can’t believe how much organizations are charging.  1000 pounds for 1 week to volunteer is Thailand. Yikes!   You can get by for a couple months on that budget.  As a result, I think I need to define some criteria. First criterion:

1. I will not pay to volunteer.

I realize that many of these organizations do not have robust financial assets, but volunteering for the organizations should be providing some benefit to them.  I will pay to live (food and accommodation), but not to volunteer.

That’s all I have for now.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.
