Description of Placement- Well this is one that you make yourself, many people who come to Nepal only ever get to see the tourist side of it. Here we offer you the chance to become part of a community to experience the everyday life of a Nepalese villager. You won’t officially have duties to perform but get involved with the cultivation of crops, cooking of food outside and the caring and chatting in the villages. One thing you must do though is go and sit in a local tea house and listen to the daily goings on.
Visit family members and wander through villages seeing how a completely different life is lived. Even take in some of the local customs and festivals and truly sample a different way of life.
Choose between the foothills of the Himalayas to the hot sub tropical area of Chitwan where but be prepared to rough if as some of the places you will stay are basic compared to how you live at home.
Please note, the more you put into this the more you will get out, the idea is for you to explore a new way of life and enjoy the contrasts between yours and theirs.
Placement Location- We have various locations from the foothills of the Himalayas in remote villages to a more urban type village of Chitwan. Each have there own unique qualities and experiences where you will find the villagers warming to you and really accepting you as part of the family. Choose carefully to which part of the country you would like to see and experience. For wildlife then Chitwan near the jungle to peace and fresh air the foothills of the Himalayas.
Accommodation- Will be provided by the local families in the village with each one carefully selected so at least one member of the family speaks good English in order that you can communicate effectively. Also you will find that the local families in the home stay programme have been chosen because they also have good standing in the community and can introduce you to the traditional Nepalese village life.
