Profile:

Created in 1999, CEDHA is a non-profit organization that aims to build a more harmonious relationship between the environment and people. Their work centers on promoting greater access to justice and guaranteeing human rights for victims of environmental degradation, or due to non-sustainable management of natural resources, and to prevent future violations. To this end, CEDHA fosters the creation of inclusive public policy that promotes socially and environmentally sustainable development, through community participation, public interest litigation, strengthening democratic institutions, and the capacity building of key actors.

Volunteer Opportunities:

CEDHA coordinates an internship program that covers a variety of thematic topics, primarily in the fields of environmental and human rights. The program offers unique short and long-term opportunities for dynamic and self-motivated individuals to conduct research, fieldwork, training, and participate in other CEDHA program-related activities. Internships are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be intermittently posted on CEDHA’s website as they become available. Internships may be at CEDHA headquarters, with one of CEDHA’s partners in Latin America, or conducted independently from an alternative location.

Required Skills:

Most of the internships with CEDHA are research oriented. So, good researching skills are advantageous. However, CEDHA is willing to entertain ideas about potential projects if they meet with the organization’s objectives.
