Well, maybe it isn’t the best time to talk about cheap holidays to Egypt. With all the political unrest in the past couple years, it probably isn’t ripe for a visit. That being said, I spent a couple weeks in Egypt last year. Despite everyone talking about politics, things didn’t seem too bad when I was there. However, you did get the sense that it could turn at any time.
The political situation that has captured the nation over the past couple years is really unfortunate on many levels. One of those levels is tourism. Egypt has so much to offer to tourists. It has the bustling city of Cairo, the beautiful beaches of Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh, and Alexandria and the Mediterranean coast. It has an incredible history with the pharaonic temples lining the Nile, the Valley of the Kings, and the great Pyramids. On top of that, for most, it is a great culture shock which adds to the adventure. It really is a country with something to offer for everyone.
There is no shortage of volunteering opportunities in Egypt either. Check out the great list of free volunteer opportunities listed on alternativeegypt.com. This opportunity to get your TEFL certification isn’t free, but the cost looks very reasonable for the experience.
