Yunnan province is located in the southwest of China. It is the home of many minorities.
Have you ever heard about the poverty that still exists today in China’s minority areas?
Volunteers are needed to move the world towards a brighter future.
Have you ever wanted to gain new and meaningful experiences, work together with an international community, or just help other people?
Then become a Development Instructor at Yunnan Institute of Development. YID offers an 11-month course open to people of many different countries and backgrounds. Our volunteers work together with local people in rural China to help improve their nutrition, hygiene, and education. We also help to change their economic, social, and environmental conditions.
Our next teams of volunteers start September 1st and November 1st 2009.

The Development Instructor program is an 11-month training/practical program that where volunteers both learn and study about development on a theoretical level, as well as apply what they have learned in practice. One of YID’s fundamental principles is that all volunteers must learn by doing.
The 11 months is divided into:
* 5 months training at YID in Yuxi, Yunnan province, China
* 5 months practical period, where each volunteer is placed at one of YID’s or Humana People to People’s projects in Yunnan or Sichuan province
* 1 month of evaluation and conclusion
The projects where our volunteers work are mostly in rural Yunnan’s ethnic minority areas. Volunteers work together with local people to improve health, education, social, economic, and environmental conditions. Some of the projects that we work with include:
* Child Aid
* Farmer’s Clubs
* Preschools
* Community Ability Development
* Total Control of the Epidemic (HIV/AIDS awareness)
* Total Malaria Control
Our next teams of volunteers start September 1st and November 1st 2009.
