Launched on Feb 1st, 2006, True Travellers Society (TTS) is a
Canadian based not-for-profit organization created by travellers, for
travellers. We are dedicated to providing free information that will help
independent travellers get the most out of their experiences abroad. We
believe that truly travelling is more than simply visiting a country and taking in the sites with other tourists. Truly travelling
involves immersing oneself with the local people, activities, and
environment. This is the goal of many travellers. However, the greatest
barrier to truly travelling is obtaining the information on
how it can be done. This is exactly the reason why TTS was formed. We
aim to eliminate this barrier by providing a centralized location where
this information can be shared. Our goal is to provide information that
will enable you to organize your own meaningful travel around the
world.
As opposed to other sites this site
is member driven, not industry driven. It relies on information
submitted by its users. This is your site and community, so if you have
an idea, please contribute. Here is your opportunity to make a
difference. The more you contribute, the more others will have the
opportunity to learn from your experiences, and the better this
resource becomes.
Another difference between our organization
and most others that you will find in the meaningful travel industry,
is that our information is FREE! We are not travel agents; we simply
provide information. We do not charge our users or members for this
information.
To provide you with the best information, we focus on two groups:
• Travellers:
Travellers are our best resource. They have the first hand experiences
and the knowledge that we want to share. We encourage all of our
members, travellers, and site users to share their stories and
adventures so others can have similar experiences.
• Civil Society Organizations (CSOs):
CSOs provide travellers with the opportunity to participate in
meaningful volunteer experiences around the world. They are dedicated
to improving their communities. They work on a range of issues
including education, conservation, and humanitarianism. CSOs are also
involved with eco-tourism, housing construction, and community
development projects.
TTS
is dedicated to continually improve the service we provide. Therefore,
we welcome any suggestion on how we can better meet your needs. Please
do not hesitate to contact us.
Safe and happy travels.
